Lacy Sun
Lawyer, Managing Partner
Lacy is an Ontario lawyer and the co-founder and managing partner of ZS Law.
Lacy is originally from China and spent her formative teenage years in Ottawa. She earned her Honours Bachelor’s degree in Management & Organizational Studies from Western University, with a double major in Consumer Behaviour and Psychology. After graduating, Lacy worked as a legal assistant at a Toronto full-service litigation firm, focusing on debt-collection matters.
Lacy pursued her Juris Doctor (JD) degree at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law. Lacy has built extensive legal experience both during law school and in her career, with a passion for private practice focused on supporting individuals and families.
Her professional journey includes roles with a real estate and estates lawyer, several Ottawa family law firms, and a full-service firm in Ottawa where she honed her litigation skills across multiple practice areas. Lacy is committed to listening attentively to her clients’ stories and delivering tailored, effective solutions.
Joey Zhao
Paralegal, Partner
Joey is an Ontario-licensed paralegal and the co-founder and partner of ZS Law.
Joey earned his Bachelor’s degree in Material Engineering from Wuhan University in China. He came to Canada in 2015 and completed his Master of Mechanical Engineering at Western University. After graduation, Joey worked as an engineer for several years before deciding to pivot his career.
During the pandemic, Joey relocated to Ottawa and pursued work as a real estate agent, where he built connections with numerous homeowners and tenants. This experience sparked his interest in law, leading him to complete the paralegal program at Algonquin College with excellent grades and being honored on the Dean's List three times. He then joined a full-service firm in Ottawa, focusing primarily on matters before the Landlord and Tenant Board and various civil litigations.
Joey excels at devising meticulous defense strategies, often turning cases around with unexpected legal perspectives.
