Lacy Sun
Lawyer, Managing Partner
Lacy is an Ontario lawyer and the co-founder and managing partner of ZS Law.
Lacy is originally from China and spent her formative teenage years in Ottawa. She earned her Honours Bachelor’s degree in Management & Organizational Studies from Western University, with a double major in Consumer Behaviour and Psychology. After graduating, Lacy worked as a legal assistant at a Toronto full-service litigation firm, focusing on debt-collection matters.
Lacy pursued her Juris Doctor (JD) degree at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law. Lacy has built extensive legal experience both during law school and in her career, with a passion for private practice focused on supporting individuals and families.
Her professional journey includes roles with a real estate and estates lawyer, several Ottawa family law firms, and a full-service firm in Ottawa where she honed her litigation skills across multiple practice areas. Lacy is committed to listening attentively to her clients’ stories and delivering tailored, effective solutions.
Joey Zhao
Paralegal, Partner
Joey is an Ontario-licensed paralegal and the co-founder and partner of ZS Law.
Joey earned his Bachelor’s degree in Material Engineering from Wuhan University in China. He came to Canada in 2015 and completed his Master of Mechanical Engineering at Western University. After graduation, Joey worked as an engineer for several years before deciding to pivot his career.
During the pandemic, Joey relocated to Ottawa and pursued work as a real estate agent, where he built connections with numerous homeowners and tenants. This experience sparked his interest in law, leading him to complete the paralegal program at Algonquin College with excellent grades and being honored on the Dean's List three times. He then joined a full-service firm in Ottawa, focusing primarily on matters before the Landlord and Tenant Board and various civil litigations.
Joey excels at devising meticulous defense strategies, often turning cases around with unexpected legal perspectives.
Solgrey Diaz Barroso
Office Manager
Solgrey is an accounting and administrative professional with experience in banking, customer service, and business operations. Originally from Cuba, she completed her accounting studies in Havana and began her professional career working at a national financial exchange institution, where she gained valuable experience in financial transactions, cash management, record keeping, and client service in a fast-paced financial environment.
After moving to Canada in 2013, Solgrey expanded her administrative and operational experience through her work with Canada International Paragliding School Inc., where she supported daily business operations, scheduling, customer relations, and office administration.
Throughout her professional journey, Solgrey has developed strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills, with a commitment to efficiency, professionalism, and dependable support. She is dedicated to helping businesses operate smoothly by providing reliable financial and administrative management while maintaining a high standard of client service and attention to detail.
Phoebe Lu
Law Clerk
Phoebe is a Law Clerk at ZS Law.
Phoebe earned her diplomas in Legal Office Administration and Law Clerk from Seneca Polytechnic. Originally from Taipei, Phoebe came to Canada in 2019. She has also pursued studies in Hospitality and Cosmetic Management, which further developed her client-service skills, attention to detail, and professional communication.
Phoebe is familiar with the day-to-day operations of a law firm and brings responsibility, efficiency, and professionalism to every task she takes on. Her strong work ethic and practical skills allow her to assist lawyers and clients with care and attention.
Phoebe’s strengths include drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, handling administrative work, managing case files, and assisting with litigation cases.
